### Plans change — that doesn’t erase the work
At some point, your original plan stops
fitting.
You learn new things, your life shifts, or
your market does.
The mistake is thinking a change of
direction means you have to start over from
zero with your audience.
You don’t.
You just have to bring them with you on
purpose.
### Reuse the trust you already built
A pivot lands better when your readers can
see the through‑line.
Ask yourself:
– “What has *not* changed about who I’m here
for?”
– “What has *not* changed about how I like
to help?”
Those constants are your bridge.
You can say, in your own words:
“I’m still here for people like you, and I’m
still focused on [outcome or value]. I’ve
just found a better way to get there.”
Same heart, clearer path.
### Explain the shift in one simple story
You don’t need a 2,000‑word manifesto.
You just need a short, honest story that
answers:
– Why you’re shifting
– What’s changing
– What’s staying the same
– How it affects them (in a good way)
A simple structure:
– “Here’s what I’ve been seeing.”
– “Here’s why I’m adjusting.”
– “Here’s what this will look like from
your side.”
– “Here’s what you can do next, if you
want in.”
You’re not asking for permission.
You’re giving them clarity.
### One small move for this week
Here’s your assignment:
1) Write a few bullet points for yourself:
– What’s staying the same
– What’s changing
– Why this makes things *better* for
your reader
2) Turn those bullets into a short “pivot”
paragraph you could drop into a future
email.
3) In your next few issues, let your topics
gradually reflect the new direction,
instead of flipping everything in one
day.
You’re not burning down what you’ve built.
You’re evolving it in the open.
### What’s coming next
In the next issue, we’ll talk about how to
**welcome new people into this system** so
they quickly understand who you are, what
you’re about, and where they can go with
you.
