### The blank page is a system problem
Staring at a blank screen doesn’t mean
you’re not creative.
Most of the time it just means your
idea system is empty.
If you only think about topics when
it’s “time to write,” you’re asking
your brain to hunt and cook at the
same time.
That’s a hard way to live.
### Separate “idea time” from “writing time”
Make your life easier by splitting
it into two simple jobs:
– Capture: notice ideas during the
week and park them somewhere.
– Pull: when it’s time to write,
grab one from the pile.
Good sources for ideas:
– Questions people ask you.
– Problems you keep seeing.
– Small moments from your own
week that tie back to your
main theme.
– Phrases you find yourself
repeating to others.
You’re not trying to be clever.
You’re just recording what’s
already happening.
### Keep one simple “idea bucket”
You don’t need a fancy tool.
You just need **one place** that
always gets the idea:
– A single notes doc.
– A paper notebook.
– A simple app list.
Each idea can be as small as:
– A sentence.
– A question.
– A short story seed.
When it’s time to write, your job
is not “invent a topic.”
It’s, “Pick one line from the
bucket and expand it.”
### One small move for this week
Here’s your assignment:
1) Create **one idea bucket**:
a doc, note, or page you can
open fast on your phone or
computer.
2) Over the next 7 days, add at
least **one idea per day**:
a question, problem, or moment
that fits your newsletter theme.
3) At your next writing session,
don’t brainstorm.
Just scroll that bucket, pick
one idea, and use your usual
frame:
– short story or observation,
– one lesson,
– one tiny move.
You’re training your future self
to never start from zero.
### What’s coming next
In the next issue, we’ll talk
about how to **reuse and refresh
old ideas** so your best thinking
can show up again in new, useful
ways instead of being “one and
done.”
