### The work is hard — the rituals make it lighter

Writing, sending, and selling
calmly is real work.

You’re thinking.
You’re deciding.
You’re putting yourself out there.

Rituals don’t magically remove
that.

They just make it easier to
start, and easier to stop.

### A tiny “before” ritual to help you sit down

Before you ask your brain to
create, give it a short,
repeatable runway.

Your “before” ritual might be:

– Closing extra tabs.
– Opening your idea bucket.
– Reading one old issue or a
few notes.
– Setting a 25–30 minute
timer.

The point isn’t to be fancy.

It’s to send a clear signal:
“Now we write. Just this. For
a short time.”

Your brain learns the pattern
and starts to come along more
willingly.

### A tiny “after” ritual to let it go

When you’re done, it’s easy to
carry the work in your head
for the rest of the day:

“Was that any good?”
“Did I miss something?”
“Should I tweak it again?”

A simple “after” ritual gives
your brain a clean exit.

That might be:

– Scheduling or sending, then
writing one line:
“Done for today.”
– Jotting tomorrow’s next
small step.
– Closing the doc and moving
away from the desk.

You’re telling yourself:
“The work is parked. I can
pick it up later.”

### One small move for this week

Here’s your assignment:

1) Choose **one tiny action**
that will be your “before”
ritual — something you can
do in under 2 minutes.

2) Choose **one tiny action**
that will be your “after”
ritual.

3) For your next 3 writing
sessions, do the same
before → work → after
sequence, even if the work
time is short.

You’re teaching your brain
that this work has a gentle
way in and a gentle way out.

### What’s coming next

In the next issue, we’ll talk
about how to **check in on
your identity** — the story
you’re telling yourself about
who you are in this space,
and how shifting that story
can quietly change the way
you show up.
