### Your actions follow your identity
It’s one thing to *do* the
tasks:
Write.
Send.
Make offers.
It’s another thing to see
yourself as:
“I’m the kind of person who
shows up and does this.”
The story you tell yourself
about who you are quietly
pulls your behavior in line
with it.
### Notice the current story
Most people have a quiet
running script like:
“I’m bad at being consistent.”
“I always fall off.”
“I’m not a real writer /
creator / business owner.”
Those lines feel like
“truth,” but they’re really
just old stories your brain
repeats.
They make every action harder
than it needs to be.
Instead of starting at zero,
you’re starting against
yourself.
### Choose a truer, more useful story
You don’t have to jump to
“I’m a world‑class pro.”
You just need a story that’s:
– Believable,
– Slightly upgraded,
– And pointed where you’re
going.
Something like:
“I’m becoming someone who
shows up regularly.”
“I run a simple, real
newsletter that helps
people.”
“I’m building this calmly,
one issue at a time.”
Say it to yourself *before*
you work, not after.
You’re reminding your brain
what game you’re playing.
### One small move for this week
Here’s your assignment:
1) Write down the current
“identity lines” that pop
up for you around this
work — even the ugly ones.
2) Choose **one** upgraded,
believable line you’d
rather practice, like:
“I’m the kind of person
who keeps showing up,
even when it’s quiet.”
3) Before your next 3 work
sessions, read that line
out loud or in your head
*once*, then do your tiny
“before” ritual and start.
You’re not faking it.
You’re choosing which story
to reinforce with your
actions.
### What’s coming next
In the next issue, we’ll
talk about how to **let your
offline life support this
online work** — using your
energy, schedule, and real
constraints instead of
fighting them.
